Annual Volunteer Needs
The Buchanan Band and Color Guard directors depend on the help, support and generosity of it's families and the surrounding community. The boosters provide volunteers in whatever areas the directors have requested assistance in. Below is a bullet list and a brief description of the areas that need YOU, below the listing is a more detailed description. - Senior Night - assist in carrying out this annual tradition held in the spring
- Chaperones - assist at games, competitions and parade events
- Food Committee - help cook and/or serve our travellers, or obtain donations to help offset costs
- Phone Contacts - help make volunteer scheduling confirmation calls
- Sponsorship - locate and secure advertising sponsors & award donations
- Fundraising Chair - coordinate and implement all fundraisers
- Color Guard Support - assist in maintaining uniforms, prepping props, assist SJVCGPR
- Uniform Prep - fitting, distribution & collection of uniforms
- Percussion - assist director & pit crew throughout the season
- Transportation - Assist w/ delivery, loading & unloading of band equip
- Jazz Ensemble - Assist with all functions & events, including competitions
- Concert Band - organizing, setup, decorating, program prep & printing
- Event Worker - door monitors, ticket sales, concessions, work stands during games & certain tournaments
- Any-timer - put your name on or "call me anytime you're in a pinch" list
FOOD COMMITTEE - Responsibilities include logistics for feeding the marching band during away competitions, menu planning and preparing a shopping list. The Boosters will provide a food trailer with all the cooking gear you could ever need including warming and serving trays and utensils. The Boosters will also place the food order for your approved menu choices with a local vendor. Please find a friend or a group of friends and step up to help feed the band. We want to keep their energy levels and stamina up by feeding our kids fresh cooked meals during those long days of award winning performances. GAME AND EVENT CHAPERONES- Debbie Jonker is looking for parent volunteers to work in the stands during football games, or to help when travelling to competitions to aid and help keep a watchful eye on the students. Click here to download the game & competition list for the season and CALL HER TODAY! If you can offer even 2 hours of your time, that would be a tremendous help!
CUSD VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM - If you are going to be a chaperone or volunteer to help with any event for the band, guard, percussion or jazz, CUSD requires that you complete this form. Any questions, please contact Debbie Jonker or Mr. Luna.
DRIVERS NEEDED - If you have a Class "A" or Class "B" license, we could use your help! Please contact Julie ASAP!
Me-N-Ed's - You are welcome to join the volunteers and go with the band, color guard and percussion groups after home games. It's a great way to relax and get to know other band parents and chat about upcoming fundraisers, too.
JAZZ COMPETITIONS & EVENT CHAPERONES - Contact Denise G right away to get your name on the list to chaperone for the 2008-2009 season! Go to the jazz website for this year's schedule.
JAZZ FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS - If you are looking to sign up for the San Joaquin Valley Jazz Festival Feb. 6 & 7, 2009, please contact Roberta Shackelford to get on that jazz list. Check out the new website at www.sjvjf.net
GSTOB - The Golden State Tournament of Bands will be held on Nov. 8th at Buchanan High Stadium. Volunteers are needed in the following areas: band check in, parking, bus parking, lots, judges hospitality, sponsorships, and a variety of other areas. Please contact Julie Butler with your availbility.
Senior Night - Help carry out this annual tradition of honoring our band students that will be graduating this school year by planning, organizing and executing the dinner and recognition event. The night usually includes dinner with the director and individual, special recognition during one of the games. SJVCGPR - San Joaquin Valley Color Guard & Percussion Review - Check back for info regarding the annual San Joaquin Valley Color Guard & Percussion Review competition and for specific volunteer needs.
