FUNdraising!
We have many fun and exciting opportunities for you to add money to your student's account this year. The priviledge of working concessions at a venue such as the SaveMart Center, or becoming one of Santa's little elves for a few hours a week at the Holiday Gift Wrap booth at Sierra Vista Mall are just a couple ways that you can get involved, earn money, meet other parents and students, and HAVE FUN!! Support your student's account, and the band in general, while having good time and sign up to volunteer TODAY!!!
Keep in mind, your student may not be bringing anything home to explain these great opportunities. We hope that you will find something that suits you and your family so you can enjoy yourself while earning money in your student's account.
Below is a quick list of the fundraisers for the 2008-2009 school year. Keep in mind, when it comes to fiundraising, there is a possibility that the list will change. If you ever have any questions, contact Rhonda or Richard!

NEW THIS YEAR AND FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY - LETTERMAN'S JACKET FUNDRAISER!!!
YES, you read that right!! Go to the FORMS page and open the document to get all the details but this is a double WIN-WIN situation! Your student gets the Letterman's jacket they always wanted - with some custom features if you so choose - and you get to purchase it at a discount, AND a portion goes back into the Booster S.C.'s general fund! Now that's an awful lot of special stuff for one low price!
No more rushing around cleaning house and preparing Hors d'Oeuvres for dozens of people after a long hard day at work! Don't have a Tupperware at home party, have a Tupperware BOOK party! Our first ever Tupperware sale last year went well so we're doing it again!! Books will be available in the band room and the sale runs October 6, 2008 to October 20, 2008. This fundraiser is an 80/20 split which means 80% goes into your student's fundraising account, and 20% goes into the Booster's general operating expenses account. For more info on your student's F.R. account, please contact Karen Conrad.
Buchanan High School Band Advertising Sponsorship Program - OK, so you don't really get your name on a sandwichboard BUT...you can get it on something even better - the back door of the band's ever travelling equipment trailer!! The ad sponsorship program has a variety of ways to show your support by purchasing display advertising space in event/festival programs and schedules, and on the back of the band trailer. The 2008-2009 document has been updated and posted so you can see the variety of opportunities available to your family or your company.
Fabiano's Coffee - Our next Fabiano's Coffee fundraiser will be October 11, 2008 to October 31, 2008
McDonald's Band Night - Our next McDonald's night will be October 15, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Entertainment Books - The sale is over for 2008. Check back for our next sale dates. Click on the link to get the latest info on this very popular fundraiser. Make sure you get one for Grandma and Auntie Sue, too!
GSTOB Advertising and Trophy Sponsorships - Now until October 10, 2008 The Golden State Tournament of Bands is made possible by a combined effort of BHS, CEHS, CHS, CNHS and CWHS band boosters & has many opportunities for sponsors for the November 2008 tournament. The 2008 form is now on the forms page so hurry to submit your sponsorship and get your preferred placement before it is snapped up by someone else! A portion of every sponsorship purchased will go back into your student's account.
Gold Canyon Candles - November 3, 2008 to November 14, 2008. These smell so good you'll be tempted to take a bite - but don't!! Enjoy the sweet smell throughout your entire house and, order some for gifts, too! Remember, a percentage of every sale goes back into your students band account - this is another great example of a win-win situation. Candle sales are usually held in both the fall and spring, so if you happen to miss one-be sure to catch the other!
ATTENTION: SaveMart shoppers!! Do you want to earn money for your student's account while you shop? Then you need this free S.H.A.R.E.S. card. Each family member, relative or neighbor can have their own card too, and all will contribute to your student's account whenever they shop. Please contact Rhonda or Julie to have your card updated. If you got your card prior to the start of this school year, you must update it so the account information is correct. DEC. UPDATE - NEW CARDS COMING VERY SOON
Marie Callender Pies - Starts November 1, 2008 ENDS 11-12. Interested in helping with this short term committee in November? Responsibilities include: distributing order packets to students and parents, collecting completed orders, tallying pies needed & balance with payments received and then place the order with MC's. When the order is ready to be picked up at our local MC's, verify the pie count, haul them back to BHS, and just confirm the orders as the parents come to pick them up! Depending on the amount of orders received, only 2 to 4 people are needed for this one.
Buchanan Area BBQ & Silent Auction - The Athletics Department hosts this annual event each October to raise funds for various sports programs. They have invited the Band and Color Guard families to join in the fun & participate! You can contribute a gift basket, item, or gift certificate with a value of at least $50.00 for the Silent Auction and designate where you would like the proceeds from that item to go such as band, jazz, guard or sports! The BBQ is delicious, and along with wine tasting and the Silent Auction makes this adults only mixer a good way to get to know other Buchanan parents. And, tickets for the dinner and evening's events are only $25 each and a portion of that also goes back to your student's account!
eScrip - this ongoing fundraiser is EASY!! Just go to www.escrip.com for details on how to earn money while shopping online!! If you have trouble finding our account at www.escrip.com, we are registered as Buchanan Band Boosters and the account # is 139304645, or search by the old zip code 93612. Send this info to all your friends and relatives and they too can help put cash in your student's account while shopping online! FYI - There is no association between www.escrip.com and the now defunct Scrip gift certificate program, Scrip Advantage.
BHS Concessions Stand - During the football season and at other special events you can earn up to $25 for your students account by working in the Buchanan Stadium Concessions stand. Please contact Holly Baum for details about working this football season. See band schedule for dates.
See's Candy NEW THIS YEAR - FALL FUNDRIASER October 1, 2008 to October 15, 2008 then we will have our Winter Fundraiser November 17, 2008 to December 3, 2008. If you'd like to chair this FUNdraiser, responsibilities include: distributing order forms, collecting completed orders and keeping a tally of orders & payments received, placing the final order with See's, picking up, verifying items received against order sheet, and arranging a pick up time for parents to retrieve their orders. This can be done by one person, but the more the merrier!
Booster Gift Wrap Booth - November 28, 2008 to December 24, 2008. Anyone interested in working the booth may contact the fundraising chairpersons for details. The booth is open during mall hours.
Recycling - Since our first recycling day was so successful, we hope to continue this great community service and offer another electronics recycling day after the winter break, probably January. So, as you receive new electronic gadgets as gifts over the holidays, save the old ones for our drop off day and help raise money for the general account at the same time.
Parking Lot Sale - We have had many parents ask when we are going to hold a sale because they have been saving up FOR YEARS just to support our hard working band and colorguard.. so stay tuend here for the next date!
CONFIDENTIAL Student Accounts - How do we keep track of all this fundraising you ask?? Well, we have one dedicated person in charge of student account activity. If you have any questions about your student's account or need to privately discuss any financial matter regarding your account, contact the VP of Student Accounts, Karen Conrad. Remember, ONLY the student accounts VP can answer questions about how much you have earned on FUNdraisers to date. We can not stress enough that all info regarding your student's account is kept completely confidential between you and the student accounts VP ONLY. The booster chairperson, nor the booster committee heads, have access to this information.
NOTE---If you have a question about a check you wrote to the BHS Foundation for band fees, or if you have a question about checks written for marching shoes or guard accessories, you need to contact Mr. Luna about those items.
